Workplace Mediation

The workplace is a common source of disputes and there can be many factors driving conflict in the workplace. Acknowledging the existence of conflict, and the need to address it, is an important first step. The assistance of a trained mediator can help your organization resolve specific disputes among your team and restore a more positive work environment.  An ADR professional trained in conflict resolution process design can help your organization develop capacity and processes to manage and resolve conflicts in order to promote productivity, morale and mental well-being.

Comprehensive Family Mediation

The breakdown of a marriage is a stressful and emotional experience. Family mediation services can help spouses work through important issues such as:  future parenting arrangements including child support and place of residence; spousal support issues;  and the division of family assets and liabilities, including the family home. Unmarried couples can also be served by mediation on issues such as parenting arrangements.

Seeking independent legal advice is always an important step in dealing with the breakdown of a marriage or a relationship when issues of legal rights and interests arise. However, family mediation services can reduce the cost and amount of time needed in court and can help the parties resolve issues in order to move forward with their lives.

Commercial Mediation

Litigation should be a last resort for a business finding itself in a dispute  - whether with a client or another business. Going to court is costly in terms of both time and money. Using mediation in commercial disputes can increase the control of the parties and provide an opportunity to shape a  mutually acceptable, positive outcome - while decreasing risk and disruption to business.

Intercultural Mediation

Cultural diversity is a part of the global economy and the world everyone shares today. Intercultural mediation involves strategies to facilitate relations and communication where needed such as facilitating relations between a school and new residents or immigrants.

Community Mediation

Collaborative problem solving and consensus building techniques can be used to build community consultation processes, design conflict resolution processes and manage risks of conflicts in the future.  Community mediation can help parties learn from each other and constructively manage their differences.  An understanding of group decision-making and the dynamics of conflict can improve communication and relationships while creating opportunities for successful outcomes.

Personal Injury

Accidents are part of life and personal injury matters are a common source of litigation. However, the vast majority of personal injury matters are resolved before coming to court. Mediation can play an important role in resolving such matters fairly and expeditiously and can save court costs and time.

Meeting Facilitation

We often have to make decisions as a part of a group.  Each group process has its own dynamic and objectives.  A meeting facilitator can help you shape ground-rules for constructive discussion and guide everyone through the stages of collaborative problem-solving:

  • Brainstorming:  Sharing perspectives,  identifying issues & goals through open inclusive discussion.
  • Working with diversity:  Divergent views within an organization can reveal both strength & creativity. Diverse perspectives can be used to build a solution that no one person could create on their own.
  • Focusing:  Organizing the group’s ideas, identifying common ground, goals & strategies.
  • Developing inclusive solutions:  How to overcome common barriers to participation.
  • Moving from discussion to solutions.
